“Religion itself has become corrupted by an ‘ideology of compassion’ and a corrupted notion of inclusivity.”

Most def. Not just Christian denominations, but Jewish ones, too. The Reform and even Conservative Jewish seminaries have been largely captured. Several years ago I stopped going to services because I was fed up with politics in what’s supposed to be a sanctuary. I started going to Orthodox and Chabad services instead. I’d rather be falling short in my own observance within in a community that reveres the ideals, than considered ‘observant’ in one that eliminates or tailors ideals to suit their tastes.

Great stuff as always, JD. I'm curious if Cleckley addresses the subject of BDSM in the book, and whether you have any opinions as to it's acceptance as a form of healthy sexual expression.

Many thanks for the feedback. He does discuss BDSM in the book, drawing on historical examples of artists and other valued literary figures who engaged in it or wrote about it. As for my views, I think a larger discussion would be needed. There is the matter of how strong the behavior is and where one might draw a line between the normative & the non-normative.
